Nanny Rose’s Sticks and Pulls Review

Posted in Beauty-licious, Shopping Spree with tags , , on September 23, 2011 by applesdiary

What the box says:
Nanny Rose’s Sticks & Pulls will spruce you up in the sweetest way possible. This sticky pot is a combination of locally produced honey, sugar and lemon juice. It contains no harsh chemicals and ingredients that can cause allergies that is why it can be used on sensitive skin and delicate areas. Making use of ingredients that are closest to nature, you can be sure that every jar of Nanny Rose’s Sticks & Pulls is made with love. ♥
It’s a recipe, not a formulation.

Apple Says:
I’ve been using creams and heated wax for years as much as gone to different waxing spa and salons, until I discover this heaven sent piece of Nanny Rose’s Sticks and Pulls. It comes with all natural honey wax plus reusable/ washable pulls and two wooden spatulas.

What I LOVE
I love this because of its all natural ingredients that doesn’t harm or irritate skin. It smells like pure honey and lemon which will leave you a sticky feeling on your skin after several applications. No need to use generous amount of the honey wax, since a thin layer of it can pull out unwanted hairs evenly. I’ve been using the 100grams of Nanny Rose’s for 2 months now and believe to save for another month. I apply this to my full legs and sometimes, if time permits, on my underarm. Since it doesn’t need to be heated, you can use it anytime at your own convenient time.

Why Buy?
1. Very affordable. Will not harm your budget compare to existing spas and waxing salons in the market.
2.  Leaves you hairless for about a week or two. -based from my observation
3. Contains pulls and spatulas inside the box. No need to pull out that drawer for resources.
4. No need to access microwave oven since it can be used even without being heated.
5. The wax lasts long in the jar as long as it is well sealed.- Sulit!!!

How to use: (as indicated in the box label)
1. Simply remove cap and heat the jar of wax in a microwave oven for 10-15 seocnds. Let it rest until its tempreature is cool enough to apply on skin. The wax can also be used without being heated.
2. Prep your skinby washing the area with soap and water to remove unwanted residue. Dash a little powder on the area to be waxed to keep it dry.
3. Using the wooden spatula, apply a thin layer of the wax in the direction of hair growth. In the same direction, place the strip of cloth on top and even out air bubbles.
4. Quickly pull the end of the cloth towards the opposite direction- against hair growth. Repeat as needed.
5. Reddening of the skin after waxing is normal. Wax residue on skin can easily be removed with a damp cloth.
Very Important: Allow pores to close by letting skin rest for at least 30 minutes before completely washing the waxed area. And do not use on broken or irritated skin.

Available at Watsons. See picture below for the actual product. Try it! You too will surely Love it!!!

Jed Madela and the La Diva

Posted in Events ♥ on June 16, 2011 by applesdiary

First of all, I want to clear things out that: “I AM NOT A FUN of either party” :) Sounds good.

Since it’s JUNE time, all are set for the celebration of  my Beloved Country’s Freedom Day. Too many guests were invited, from Presidents, Ambassadors, Governors, Political Heroes and so on… But only few stand out. Haha. Talking about showbizness which we, Filipinos, cannot  deny. Though I felt happy and honored to meet Amb. Ernesto M. Maceda, so as Cong. Tomas V. Apacible and the rest of  the board of DBP, I didn’t feel the urge to get close to them put out my camera for the record. BUT not until I met the following: *Pls. Don’t laugh* (Hahaha!)

I am a “kapamilya” by heart. So I actually admired the singing career of Mr. Jed Madela at ASAP. Though not my typical kind of guy, he seems so nice and approachable in person.

We failed to caught the La Diva on stage but nonetheless, we find ways to catch these beautiful ladies.

Since I am a certified Kapamilya, (take two) I don’t know them really. Haha. Sorry. I own the camera so I have to be there. ♥

Maybelline : HYPER CURL VOLUM’ EXPRESS.

Posted in Beauty-licious with tags , , on May 23, 2011 by applesdiary

Found a new item on my kikay kit. Maybelline New York’s the HYPER CURL VOLUM’ EXPRESS. It is a 3-in-1 Mascara that Lengthens, Curls and Volumizes your eyelashes just the way you want it to be. I have been a major user of Maybelline’s mascara products but my first time for a waterproof edition. Price: P249.00 at SM Department’s Store Beauty Section.

What I LOVE

The Volume is Fine as well as the fact that it Lenghtens my lashes. But above all, what I really appreciate is the power of the mighty brush to Curl my lovely little hairs without a need to use a curler. No need for re-application at the middle of the day as it last all though your busy schedule. The thing is, you need a very effective make-up remover at night to wipe-out the remains after you washed out your face. Remember, it is waterproof dear so no matter how you splurge water on your face, it will stick with you. I recommend the make-up remover cream from HBC along with a few piece of tissues.

Over all, its a good beauty investment and a must have for the kikay women out there. :) * Love

Sino ba ang dapat sisihin?

Posted in Events ♥, My personal posts with tags , , on March 30, 2011 by applesdiary

At muli, malulungkot ako.

letter of love

Posted in My personal posts with tags , , on March 21, 2011 by applesdiary

Francis is down– and I can’t think of anything that I can be a sort of help to him. He’s been struggling in finding job for almost a month already since he arrived last February 7 this year. I know that he’s not doing okay, and I want to make him feel that “Hey, everything will be okay! I’m always here for you honey. And I’ll never leave you no matter what.” If that statement could take away all the worries, then I will not get tired of saying it. But I know that it is not. That things are not going to be okay unless he find his own shell, a work that he can be proud of. He’s always positive about life, but not with this one. He’s starting to compare his self from others. Saying that he also deserves such other people’s success. Maybe it’s not yet his time, maybe he needs more drive and focus, maybe he should be drifting another course of action. But it’s not that easy to tell him these things. Because one way or another, I myself cannot think of a way how to help him. How to keep him strong and positive.

As I googled around to find job related posts for him, I happen to entered this site: www.freeprintable.com and find myself creating this letter below:

I will see him later and about to give him this letter. I’m sure it will surprise him but what I really want is to make him feel that I’m here. Hopefully, this letter will make him smile even in a while. I love him so much. And if there’s one thing I can do for him right now, is to stay with him through all the good and bad times.

Posted in Food Trips with tags , on February 8, 2011 by applesdiary

The real monster pizza is here!

El Buono’s Pizza is beyond the word biggest. With its 36inches pizza deal, you can already sleep with the pepperonis and tomatoes. And oh, no need to worry about that tight pocket budget as this pizza comes in a very affordable prize.

This 36inches pizza costs about Php 2,499.00 only plus a free 1.5 Soft drinks that will be delivered right in your front door steps. Imagine the excitement on how a single motor delivery boy can handle this ultimate size pizza. Truly amazing. What’s best about El Buono’s pizza is that you can have a variety of flavors in one whole pizza order. What we have here is the combination of four pizza flavors such as: 1. El Buono Special, 2. La Carne Buono, 3. IL  Salami Picante, 4. Pizza Italiano.

El Buono Experience

The pizza tastes great regardless of the size. At first I taught it will going to taste like ordinary pizzas offered by this little pizza shops, but it wasn’t. It has strong flavors that will surely catch you tastebuds and make you ask for more. This 36 inches size pizza that we ordered will cater about 15-20 persons according to over-the-phone operator to whom I placed my ordered with. But believe me or not, we are about 30 persons that were  abundantly satisfied with the servings. Not bad for the 2.5k bucks.

Buendia Bus Bombing – 01/25/2011

Posted in Events ♥ with tags , , , on January 26, 2011 by applesdiary

O LORD GOD, lead us from death to life; from lies to truth. Lead us from despair to hope; from fear to trust. Lead us from hatred to love; from war to peace. Let peace fill our hearts; our world; our universe. Peace; Peace; Peace.

FEAR- this is one powerful word that everyone in my beloved country may now feel about themselves. The incident yesterday, January 25, 2010,  of the Buendia Bus Bombing opens our mind that life sets no guarantee. That each one of us can be a victim of a tragedy. It may happen now, tomorrow or days from now. It can happen to me, but it can also happen to you, to our family, friends, and loved ones. As early as today, ( Jan-26, 2010; 8:30AM) as I write this blog, many families are suffering from the incident. 5 people were left dead, 14 are still at the hospital, injured. I am so worried yesterday that I texted family and friends their whereabouts.

Makati might been regarded as the busiest business hub in the country. I currently work here, in a government bank located along the same Buendia street where the incident happened. It was ridiculous indeed to see on the TV News the same street I am passing along everyday, watching how many people died and suffered from a planted bomb. This is perhaps not new to us, but to me, it is someting quite close, quiet alarming and i’m afraid. Right there, I search along the internet and found out that the Bus Line name is New Man Gold Liner. I don’t actually know what will happen next. Justice in this country has been very poor eversince I have learn to pronounce the word. But then, I Trust the Lord. That everything will fall into places. May He send the right person to implement the Justice that everyone deserves. Not only for the victims but for everyone who instilled fear on their life.

This issue might be in the headlines for a week or two. But sooner or later, it will be replaced by new incidents that might happen next. That is always the case. Hopefully, it will not be forgotten by everyone unless Justice has been all set. For the victims, my prayers to you and your family. May God takes away the pain that you are all experiencing. May He embrace you with love and give you hope to battle life again. I also pray for the officials in the government, for the authorities that they may have the courage to reveal the truth and fight against evil. That they have the enlightenment to prevail Justive for everyone. And to my country, Philippines, we are sorry for your downfall. I am very sad that things like this do happen.

I attached here pictures related to the incident, I want all of us to be aware, though we cannot avoid by all means.

Lay Bare Waxing Salon

Posted in Beauty-licious with tags , , , , on January 17, 2011 by applesdiary

Waxing is definitely way better at Lay Bare. Say goodbye to warm waxing and welcome the smooth and pain-free cold waxing offered by this Salon. At Lay Bare, they use cold sugar wax jelly which are said to be made of sugar, kalamansi, and honey that can exfoliate and whitens skin. You will surely LOVE Lay Bare ♥ with its quality service that doesn’t harm your budget.

Lay Bare Experience:

After my thorough research in magazines and internet blogs about the best Waxing Salon in the metro who offer the best services ever with very affordable prices, I finally decided to go to LAY BARE-ATC and have my Full-Leg Waxing. ♥ ♥ And here’s how things were:

Since its my first time to undergo sessions like this, i felt awkward to wear the gown. However, with the help of Ate Helen, who is very friendly, I manage to make myself comfortable in a while. The wax jelly is so sticky, like it will totally strip off your unwanted hairs evenly.

And for the record, they also use powder to be applied first on your skin before they strip off unwanted hairs. This powder smoothens the striping cycle which lightens the pain or sometimes making it absolutely pain-free. * I acknowledge the cold temperature within the Salon’s facility plus the freezing hands of Ate Helen everytime she touches my skin. ☻Soo relaxing… ♥

Yeah it’s ME. Just like what it seems, I’m enjoying it. ♥ Haha. *thanks to my mom for the pictures during the session.*
I was ask to lay this way so as to give way on removing my back leg hairs or whatever you call it.
The pillow and the towel smells so good that’s why I don’t mind embracing them and have a good time. Truly relaxing.

LOYALTY CARD:

♥ This is my favorite part. They give away Loyalty Cards for future discounts when you enjoyed a number of services already. And since this is just my very first time, I just have one signature on my card. And oh, this card is redeemable in any Lay Bare branches- perfect.

WAXING REMINDERS:

Here how it goes:
1. After waxing, refrain from washing the newly waxed part for 4 hours.
2. If you get waxed during the early evening, wait till the next day to wash the waxed area.
3. Don’t scratch or rub.
4. Avoid putting on make-up, lotion, powder, cologne, etc. after getting waxed.
5. Apple antibacterial cream 2x a day after every wax (*i’m not aware of this, so I haven’t applied any cream after getting wax, failed to ask them about it)
6. For redness and minor swelling, apply cold compress by wrapping an ice cube around a washcloth and press it gently on the waxed area.It should make it subside quickly.
7. Refrain from any strenuous activities that will make you sweat to prevent any bacterial infection.

A-Notes:
1. Important: Do not wear lotion prior to your appointment because it will not make the waxing work for you. Remember that.
2. It’s better to wear shorts and shirts upon your schedule time so as to avoid the hassle of changing clothes, and also to keep you comfortable all through out the session.
3. Set an appointment. So whenever you came in the Salon, you are their priority.
4. Be calm! It’s not painful after all, besides you should be brave enough to lose those unwanted family of our skin.
5. I have to say this: They have no “Tip” box so when I ask the receptionist if I can see Ate Helen again to give her my thank you tip, she gave me this little envelope and keep the tip. Huhu. Hopefully, it was given to Ate.
6. Have your hair grow a little longer, because the little ones cannot be swipe away by the jelly wax. Ate Helen has to do the threading for my little ones.

Upon seeing the receipt, I saw that they uses two container of waxes for me. I wonder how big it is. ♥ Accurate Rate- I only paid P500.00.

Overall, GREAT SERVICE there is. I rank it 9.5/10
